The Bambach Saddle Seat was developed by Australian   Occupational Therapist Mary Gale.

The Bambach is shaped like a horse saddle and works with the natural biomechanics of the body to promote upright balanced posture. The seat supports the pelvis in its natural neutral position and this coupled with the position of the thighs at 45 Degrees to the body and the abduction offered by the seat ensures that the spine has a perfect foundation to enable it to maintain its natural “S” shape the same position as in standing.

In this position the centre of gravity of the upper body is immediately over the sitting bones and the postural muscles are balanced therefore helping to reduce muscle fatigue which in turn encourages the shoulder girdle to function optimally .

The body is free of tension.

The shoulders are in their natural position, the arms and hands are free and the hands can sustain activity with precision and minimal body fatigue.

It is because of the claims of postural benefit which are made about the seat that The Bambach is registered as a Class 1 medial device in accordance with Directive  93/42/EEC as amended 2007/47/EC and Tested accordingly.
